Proverb.

It’s no wonder 23 year old ProVerb was chosen as one of the faces and voices of Africa’s hottest music TV channel “Channel O” as the presenter of the hip-hop show “Nasty” since June 2003. This guy has a way with words - after all he’s one of South Africa’s hottest rappers. But aside from that he’s multi skilled, multi talented and full of dreams and ambition. South Africans will already recognize ProVerb from the video to his breakthrough track Attention - a hit track by Amu that features him and Selwyn.ProVerb is deep in the music and media game. Aside from working as a technical producer (he’s a qualified sound engineer) on DJ Fresh and Thatho’s Freshest Breakfast show at Gauteng’s biggest Youth station YFM, ProVerb has some superb tracks on groundbreaking SA hip hop albums Expressions (Right Wrong) and Maximum Sentence (Letter To My X). His lyrical abilities have been recognized by other recording artist who have invited him to feature on their projects, artist like Zubz - Performance of your life, Optical illusion - Bars of steel, Twistyle - Lovey dovey remix, Selwyn- Soweto Spanish and he also did a song with the punk rock band Tweak on the Coca-cola collaborations album.

Between February and May 2004 he was involved in the Love life concept called Scamtho groundbreakers which saw him traveling to various parts of the world as part of their Love to be there campaign. It culminated in him recording a song about teenage suicide with a Ugandan MC Lyrical G which they performed at high schools in Kimberly. His love for hip-hop was recognized when he was invited to be part of the South African delegation at the Global hip-hop summit held in Spain in September 2004.It is now a new year and Proverb is not slowing down at all, he has just released his highly anticipated debut album The Book Of ProVerb on March the 4th.

It has been a labor of love album with the emotional MC pouring his soul into the project and touching on a variety of issues that are personal to him. It is a 16 track album that features production from one of South Africa’s leading beat makers Battle Kat (He has produced for H2O, Zubz, Optical illusion and all the compilations from Outrageous Records). The first single from his album Microphone Sweet Home is already getting a lot of air play on regional and national radio stations alike. Television and radio show producers have already started clamoring for interviews and this is only the beginning. This is a continuation of the beginning of a music career that is only going to get bigger not only in South Africa but in Africa as a whole.
