Facts on bin Laden:

Osama bin Laden was born in Saudi Arabia in 1957, one of more than 50 children of millionaire construction magnate Mohamed bin Laden.

His first marriage was to a Syrian cousin at the age of 17, and he is reported to have at least 23 children from at least five wives.

He is blamed for masterminding a series of attacks on United States targets in Africa and the Middle East in the 1990s.

His family, which became rich from the Saudi construction boom, disowned him, and he was stripped of his Saudi citizenship.

He fought in the US-funded insurgency in the 1980s against Soviet troops in Afghanistan, where he founded Al Qaeda. He returned to Afghanistan in the 1990s, training Islamist militants from across the world in camps allowed to function by the ruling Taliban.

Tall, gaunt and bearded, bin Laden was unhurt by US missile strikes on his Afghan camps after the 1998 US embassy bombings in east Africa. According to some reports, he was nearly killed by a US bomb when militants were being hunted late in 2001 in the Tora Bora mountains in eastern Afghanistan.

He approved the September 11, 2001 attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people; bin Laden said later that the results had exceeded his expectations. With a multi-million dollar US bounty on his head, he then evaded the world's biggest manhunt for a decade.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said in December 2009 that the United States did not know where bin Laden had been hiding and had not had any good intelligence on his whereabouts in years.

More than 60 messages have been broadcast by bin Laden, Al Qaeda's number two Ayman al-Zawahri, and their allies since the September 11 attacks in 2001. In a September 2007 video marking the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, bin Laden said the United States was vulnerable despite its economic and military power, but he made no specific threats.

He was killed in a US operation at a compound in Pakistan in May 2011.

News on Obama Inauguration.

WASHINGTON was in lockdown last night as it prepared for history’s biggest security operation – the swearing-in of its first black president.Between 1.5 million and 4 million people are expected in the city today for Barack Obama’s inauguration. But amid threats from Al Qaeda and US racist groups they will be separated from their new president by 23,000 police and National Guard soldiers and watched by 5,265 security cameras. Security in Washington is always tight for presidential inaugurations, but the terrorist attacks of 2001 changed that. Security around Obama has been unprecedented and a massive security plan has swing into operation in Washington.The notorious white supremacy cult the Ku Klux Klan is still in action and has called on all supporters to wear black armbands today and fly the Stars and Stripes flag upside down. (I think Mr Obama will have to deal with white supremacist groups like the Ku Klax Clan at some point - so here's a thought for you Mr President - hang those crackers like they did every black man they came across!!)

Today, for the first time the incoming President will be sworn in behind bullet-proof glass, similar to that around the Chicago stage where he delivered his victory speech on election night November 4. The screen is designed to resist chemicals, flames and multiple gunshots. Obama will be surrounded by police and National Guard troops and road, rail, river and air traffic will be shut down around the capital.

If they decide to kill Mr. Obama - a lot of people are gonna be angry - and the last major riots by black people in US history wont compare. Its taken a long time for a black man to be eventually elected as to the highest position of power in the world. And its not just any black man - but a black man with real ties to the motherland. The land where all mankind came from. Prominent black leaders have been assassinated in the past en route to the highest seat in the "White House". If it happens again this time - I hope niggas wont just seat back and say - we tried!! - cause...." Yes We Can!! "

Jacob Zuma for SA Presidency?

Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki were once friends and allies, but they fell out around 2002, allegedly because Mbeki, South Africa's inscrutable President, suspected that Zuma was plotting to replace him. The power struggle that ensued was a peculiar affair, its very existence denied by the ruling African National Congress (ANC). When Zuma was dismissed from the deputy presidency and later charged with corruption and rape, his followers were convinced that their man was the victim of an Mbeki-inspired vendetta. (He was acquitted of the rape charges; the corruption charges are still being investigated.)

The controversies didn't hurt Zuma, 66, an unabashed populist who revels in traditional African polygamy—he has several wives—and whose massive rallies feature the Zulu anthem Bring Me My Machine Gun. His pro-poor rhetoric resonates with many ordinary South Africans who have not benefited from Mbeki's business-friendly policies. That explains how he easily trounced Mbeki in an internal vote last fall to become the ANC's chairman, a victory that has put him on track to win South Africa's presidency next year. Many party elders are horrified that such a man should step into shoes once occupied by Nelson Mandela, but they can't deny that he has achieved an African rarity: the peaceful overthrow of a powerful incumbent.

Coolest revolutionary?

Che Guavara has to be the coolest revolutionary thats ever lived. There is nowwhere on the planet where you wont see a "Che" picture or t-shirt. Some of us see the negative side of the man. Forgetting none of us has no negative side - to whatever degree. Whats important is what the man represents - "revolution"

Che paved the way for countless revolutionaries around the world who took heart in Che's viewpoints of the downtrodden citizens of the world. From helping plant the revolutionary seed in latin America - to helping african revolutionaries in Africa.

If Che were alive today he would be quite dissapointed that the revolutionary seed's he sawed (especially in latin america) have not really changed much of the world. Revolutions that brought about waves of change for the common man who was disgruntled at the powers that be - have only replaced those that were toppled with power hungry politicians.

These men and women who were placed there by the people have forgotten what drove them - mainly to get rid of those that hold power for themselves and throw crumbs after the feast to the common man. They have only taken the very same seats of power and do the very same.

One thing Che would be proud of though, is the fact that he is not forgotten. And maybe one day when trueone's step forward to make a real change - they will remember Che and take his spirit with them when they step into battle.
